Californians deserve
a better state constitution.
From the economy to housing, the California Constitution is blocking progress.
It’s time for a modern constitution that supports fair, creative, and impactful problem-solving.
The rules of the game are failing us.
-

Bad ballot measures
89% of California voters think ballot measures are too complicated and confusing. 77% think there are too many.
Once an initiative passes, it’s nearly impossible to update or repeal.
-

Special interest control
Well-funded groups can put just about anything on the ballot.
And they can spend hundreds of millions of dollars to pass it.
-

Lots of talk, few results
Californians want meaningful progress on housing affordability, climate, economic opportunity, wealth inequality, and more.
Government isn’t delivering.
Better government is going to take a better constitution.
Here’s what we stand for.
Inclusive process
Good laws are shaped by people with many points of view, representing the diversity of California.
The Constitution should build in time and space to learn, talk, and revise.
Balance of power
The people and our elected representatives are both legitimate voices of democracy.
Both direct and representative democracy should be empowered, yet subject to checks & balances.
Care and flexibility to match the stakes
Times change. Mistakes happen. So we’ll always need to revisit existing laws and pass new ones.
The Constitution should make it hard to change key rights and processes — and keep it easy to adapt and experiment with everyday laws.
Let’s Connect
We’re just getting started.
